Mike Mariano

On your urging, Mac, I downloaded and read George's play. I didn't like it at all.

But that's not important. I am excited that I got a chance to read it in the first place. Two clicks and I suddenly have Light at Midnight in front of me.

I think more playwrights should post their work online, irrelevant of the consequences. It's a little absurd to read playwriting blogs without reading the plays.

I have my Online Anthology which I irrationally stopped updating for nearly two years. Some of my plays could probably use a little more time in the oven. Maybe they'll go back in, but right now they're available for taste testing.

And I confess, its impossible to know what people do with your plays once they download them. Some will contact you/your agent/your publisher like they're supposed to. Some may hand it in as their own work for Creative Writing class. And some may translate your work into Persian and turn it into a puppet show (which I think happened to me).

The invisible Internet audience is terribly ill-mannered, cruelly silent, and capricious. But I love them. I love being a part of them. I love when they take my plays off on their own voyages.

George wrote his play. Mac linked it. I read it. Where is Light at Midnight going next?

Thank you, George, for giving me the opportunity to not like your play. I hope that others follow your example.
