ROCKTOBER
So through a stroke of good luck last night, I got to see the final dress of In Public, written by George Hunka and directed by Isaac Butler, starring Jennifer Gordon Thomas, Daryl Lathon, Abe Goldfarb, Ronica V. Reddick, and Brian Silliman, and it rules even harder than it did this time last year when it was presented in workshop.
Smarter bloggers than I will close-read the themes and the choices and the art stuff, but I'm here to tell my one-and-a-half remaining readers that In Public is just about the choicest cut of brutally hilarious entertainment I can imagine going right now. It's like eighty minutes long and it feels like eighteen minutes. It's weird to think in retrospect how sad and angry the show is, given that I laughed like a boorish drunk for almost the entire running time. I'll write more intelligently about it, in particular about Isaac and George's refinements, but seriously, in the meantime, see this show.
I'm also psyched to note that Nosedive splinter cell The Blood Brothers have a show opening this week as well, An Evening of Grand Guignol Horror, with remounts of two actual shows from the actual Le Theatre du Grand Guignol, "The Final Kiss" and "The Kiss of Blood." This is from most of the people behind The Adventures of Nervous Boy, and I can't freaking wait.
Sorry about all that wierd comment spam. I think the robots noticed that I never post and gave up on trying to get the readers I don't have to gamble.
